1986 Pontiac 2+2

Here is another NASCAR inspired street car like the 1982 Grand National. After the Regal dominated NASCAR in 1981 and '82, Chevrolet countered with the 1983 Monte Carlo SS and Ford with a new Thunderbird. In 1986, Pontiac released the 2+2 (and Chevrolet had a similar MCSS "Aerocoupe"). It is a special Grand Prix with an aerodynamic nose and fastback design. I owned the car pictured above for some time. Great car, but not the right one for me. I sold it to buy my second '82 GN/SC. The 2+2 is a limited production (1225) car. It is fairly well documented. However, like the '82 GN and all limited production cars, there are irregularities. Proving them can sometimes be very difficult. This is complicated by "experts". People who intend well, but don't always have the correct information. The worst, sometimes, is informational car books. Compilations about cars that are loaded with facts and figures. Unfortunately some of the "facts" are incorrect. They then get passed around and eventually become accepted. That's one benefit of the Internet - it can be corrected.

Well the 2+2 I owned had a power seat even tough it was a "No Option" car. Not a big deal, but it had one. It was even listed on the factory invoice and the RPO sticker under the trunklid. The sticker went with the car, but I still have the copy of the invoice from Pontiac. They are available through the Pontiac Historic Services. Here is a close up of the VIN and Options.
